It is with gratitude to God that we remember and celebrate the life and ministry of the Rev. Eli Rivera. Rev. Rivera distinguished himself as an effective and beloved pastor and later as an influential leader of the United Methodist Church serving as Executive staff to the General Board of Global Ministries for several years. Among his many contributions are his service as Executive Staff to the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministries. Rev. Rivera was a strong and faithful supporter of MARCHA. Today we grieve the departure of a good friend and exceptional leader, but at the same time we thank God for Eli’s life, his effective ministry among us, and his deep commitment to Hispanic/Latino ministries.
In consultation with Marie, Eli’s spouse, we are creating a memorial fund in MARCHA to honor the many contributions that our friend and colleague The Rev. Rivera made to Hispanic/Latino Ministries. Con gratitud a nuestro Dios recordamos y celebramos la vida y ministerio del Rev. Eli Rivera. El Rev. Rivera se distinguido como un pastor muy querido y también como un influyente líder en toda la Iglesia Metodista Unida desempeñando cargos Ejecutivos de gran importancia en la Junta de Ministerios Globales. Entre sus muchas contribuciones es importante mencionar su liderato como Ejecutivo del Plan Nacional para Hispano-Latino Ministres. El Rev. Rivera fue un miembro fiel y activo en MARCHA por muchos años. Hoy nos entristece su partida a la Patria Celestial pero al mismo tiempo damos gracias a Dios por su vida, su ministerio entre nosotros y su compromiso con el pueblo Hispano-Latino.
