DECLARACIÓN DEL COMITE DE MINISTERIO HISPANO/LATINO DE LA CONFERENCIA ANUAL DE NUEVA INGLATERRA 2016

Unificados/as tras la tragedia sucedida en Orlando que se allega en muchas maneras a nuestros corazones, como Pastores/as y laicos/as sirviendo en la Conferencia Anual de Nueva Inglaterra reconocemos que

Nuestra tierra y comunidades Latinoamericana se duelen con la  muerte de más de 30 hermanos y hermanas, hijos/as de nuestra tierra, sangre de nuestra sangre.

Se ha querido blanquear y omitir de la historia lo sucedido en Orlando, para que se llame un ataque terrorista anti-Estadounidense y no un ataque contra nuestra raza y nuestros hermanos y hermanas  LGBTQ de las comunidades de color en general.  Sus nombres y sus apellidos nos recuerdan que son nuestra gente, nuestra sangre.

Aun dentro de las diferencias teológicas que existen dentro de nuestra cultura, afirmamos el valor sagrado de la vida humana, afirmamos que cada ser humano es hijo/a de Dios.  Afirmamos la diversidad porque somos una familia con muchos nombres, muchas formas de hablar el mismo lenguaje, muchos tonos de piel, pero hijos de la misma tierra.

Reconocemos que fue el mismo odio y la ignorancia que deshumaniza a nuestros/as hermanos/as y a nosotros/as mismos/as como ilegales lo que le robó la vida a estos 49 jóvenes.  El odio, la opresión y la ignorancia tienen muchos rostros y se manifiesta en muchas formas, y como pueblo nos oponemos a toda clase de deshumanización, odio y opresión.

POR TANTO:  Unidos/as en esta sagrada reunión, como comunidad latina, como siervos/as del Dios de la vida.  Rechazamos la violencia, rechazamos la homofobia, rechazamos el racismo, el odio y la intolerancia.  Nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados pues no hemos amado a nuestro prójimo como Cristo nos amó.  Nos unimos para hablar en nombre de la paz, la verdad y el amor, aun cuando diferimos.  Y urgimos a no olvidar los rostros y los nombres de nuestros hermanos y hermanas los hijos de nuestra tierra.

Statement from the New England Conference Committee on Hispanic/Latino Ministry 2016 Annual Conference

We stand united in the wake of the tragedy that occurred in Orlando that deeply moves our hearts in many ways, as pastors and laity, serving in the New England Conference we affirm that:

Our Latin American Lands and communities mourns the death of more than 30 sisters and brothers, sons and daughters of our land, blood of our blood.

We refuse to stand silently by and allow the narrative of this story to be whitewashed. By allowing this tragedy to be spoken as an anti- American terrorist attack only  denies the reality that this was an attack against our LGBTQ brothers and sisters from communities of color.  Their names remind us that they are our Pueblo, our blood.

Amidst our theological difference that exist in our own culture, we affirm the sacred worth of ALL humanity and that all human beings are children of God. We affirm THIS diversity because we are one family with many members, many names, many ways of speaking the same language, many shades of color, but daughters and sons of our broad Latino/a communities -one Pueblo.

We recognize the same hate and dehumanizing ignorance that calls our brothers, sisters, and our our selves ILLIGALS is the very same hate that robed the lives of the 49 victims and spilled the blood of countless others. Hate and oppression manifest themselves in many forms and with many faces, therefore, as a Pueblo we oppose all kinds of dehumanization, hate and oppression.

We resolved, united at this sacred gathering as the Latino/a community, as servants of the God that gives all life, that We reject violence, we reject homophobia, we reject racism, we reject hate and intolerance. We repent for our sins, for we have not loved our neighbor as Jesus loved us. We come together to speak in the name of love, even when we disagree. And we urge everyone not to forget the names and faces of the victims.
